brilliant ideas here Juliet - and some sound advice for teachers. I really like the story about the P1 children learning to work things out for themselves rather than have to come inside. I think that the whole inside/outside supervision debate is still the thorniest issue for teachers.
I agree. I think teachers and others forget that developing routines and procedures around using outdoor spaces requires time, patience and training of pupils. Just like developing indoor routines. Think of the time everyone spends developing these.
