random conker stuff: did you know that horse chestnut trees used to grow mainly in big estate grounds, having been brought in from the eastern Mediterranean... it was believed that the ground up meal made from the conker would cure broken-down horses...before they could use conkers, children used to play the game with snail shells...
i just love the colour of them!

Fascinating. I love obscure "amazing but true" facts. And a use for snail shells that few would have thought of!
